You probably already know that yogurt is good for your health. It has a ton of benefits that can improve your overall wellbeing, including giving the body the good bacteria it needs.

But apart from this well-known fact, yogurt has more health benefits you may not be aware about, such as:

• Prevents osteoporosis because of its richness in calcium and vitamin D
• Smoothens skin
• Gives you flatter abs
• May stop high blood pressure or hypertension
• Helps improve your immune system and prevents colds

While you can always find a good brand of yogurt in the supermarket, why not switch to something that you made on your own? Yes, you can make your own yogurt at home and you should try today. Homemade yogurt is better tasting, has no preservatives, less expensive, and you are helping the environment by not wasting materials for packaging. Plus, most of the things you need are already found in your kitchen.

If you’re ready to start making your own yogurt, here are the ingredients you need:

• Two tablespoons of organic or no sugar yogurt (ready-made), which you will use as a starter
• One quart of organic milk, raw
• One tray of ice cubes

Here are the materials you will use for your homemade yogurt:

• One mason jar, quart-sized
• Thermometer
• Saucepan
• Bath towel
• Wire whisk
• Electric heating pad

Once you have all the ingredients above and you have the materials as well, you can proceed with the following steps:

1. Heat the saucepan.
2. Add the milk and allow it to boil slightly. Make sure you don’t scorch it.
3. Once the milk is hot enough, pour it into the Mason jar.
4. Let the milk cool down. Measure the temperature using the thermometer. Make sure it is at 110 degrees F.
5. Add the yogurt to the milk and start stirring.
6. Seal the Mason jar.
7. Use the heating pad to wrap around the jar and wrap it again with the towel. Leave it this way for seven to 10 hours. Make sure the heating pad is turned on during these hours.
8. After the specified time, you can remove the heating pad and put the jar in the refrigerator for the whole night.

That’s it! You already have your homemade yogurt the next day and you can consume it right away. As an alternative, you can add some spices or fruits to boost the flavor. For best results, use goat milk instead of cow’s milk.
